Copper recovery from unground printed circuit board by biogenic ferric at high solid/liquid ratio

In this work, the recovery of Cu from large waste printed circuit board (PCB) pieces by biogenic ferric sulphate at high solid to liquid ratio was studied. PCB parts were packed in a column and constantly recirculated. A oxidation reduction potential (ORP) decrease observed leaching due ion consumption; drop caused slower copper dissolution kinetics. After 25 days, 62.2% leached PCBs column. connected flooded packed-bed (FPB) bioreactor study biological regeneration consumed chemical reaction. The connection enabled working constant ORP (700 mV vs. Ag/AgCl) during whole test time. improvement oxidising conditions hugely increased rate, reaching 90% after days. FPB operated continuously without showing inhibition problems generating liquor with ORP. novel proposed configuration consists reactor, where are piled load, that regenerates spent enabling reagents consumption, is simple, inexpensive, low energy eco-friendly effective system recover PCBs.
